The future of Gyeonggi in the hand of GG Supporters

How amazing is it to become Gyeonggi Tourism Organization's GG Supporter?

Fun facts:
  • GG Supporters are International Students residing in Korea who were carefully selected from the pool of competitive candidates.
  • GG Supporters are volunteer Tourism Promotion Reporters particularly for the province of Gyeonggi, primarily sponsored by Gyeonggi Tourism Organization (GTO)
  • They have the exclusive privilege to be able to visit various places in Gyeonggi Province and in the end promote those places via their personal SNS account to everyone around the globe using different languages they are native or well-verse speaker.

Today, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization's 1st Batch of GG Supporters International Student Press gathered in Gyeonggi Hall of Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center in Suwon. Athough it was raining everyone enthusiastically expressed great passion, dedication and excitement to become an official GG Supporter, and so do I.

The Welcoming (Appointment) Ceremony was blessed by the presence of the GTO Ambassador.

After the opening ceremony, the GG Supporters were given a Special Marketing Strategy Lecture that basically explains how to effectively and successfully promote Gyeonggi province's tourism not just to domestic residents but more so to the foreigners. It was a very informative lecture because some previous volunteers gave their own experiences about it.

korean Late night meals (야식): your best friend at that busy nights

When you are in Korea or maybe watching Korean drama or movies you probably might have noticed that Korean people enjoyed eating light to heavy meal as their midnight snacks which they call as 야식 (Yasik). Students and employees alike enjoyed these meals because it not only make them awake so they can finish their goals (reviewing for exam if you are a student) but also eating together promote a sense of togetherness and camaraderie.

야식 depends on your preference but it usually includes chicken, jjajangmyeon (black soy bean paste noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodles), jokbal (pork's feet), ramyeon among others.

Below are some of my most favorite midnight snack in Korea. Ice cream in bread, chocolate, chicken, pizza, steamed sweet potato (고구마), of course citrus and tropical fruits are my most beloved late night meals. These meals simply speaking are my comfort foods if I am stress or my best friends when I need to finish papers or review for example.

If you visit Korea you shouldn't missed the chance to try some of them yourself. It will be a great opportunity to try something you might never have think off, enjoy Korea's cuisine even at late night.

Korean Drama 101: Everything you need to know about Korean Drama "Beethoven Virus"

Below I am going to introduce one of the best Korean drama for me. As a big fan of classical music like those composed by Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Back, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and of course Ludwig Van Beethoven  without doubt this drama is the most interesting for me.

About the drama

Beethoven Virus (베토벤 바이러스), 2008 18-episode South Korean television series starring Kim Myung-min (as Conductor or Maestro Kang), Lee Ji-ah (as Du Rumi), and Jang Geun-Suk (as Kang Gun Woo). Beethoven Virus was considered as the very first Korean drama that showcase the realistic depiction of the lives of classical musicians, an orchestra and ordinary people dreaming to become real musicians. It was aired on MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), one of the leading South Korean Broadcasting Company alongside KBS and SBS, from September 10 to November 12, 2008.

Synopsis

The drama revolves around the hardships experience by  Du-rumi, portrayed by Actress Lee Ji-Ah, a public official working for the Culture and Arts Department of Seokran City and the one assigned as person-in-charge for the launching of the city's public orchestra. However, contrary to the positive outlook everyone anticipated it was a tragic start with the orchestra publicist running away after fund embezzlement exacerbated by the domino effect quitting scenario of the orchestra members.

After numerous ups and down, Du Rumi met the young Kang Gun Woo, portrayed by Jang Geun-Suk, a traffic officer overflowing with a great sense of justice and a natural music genius; and the old Kang Gun-Woo also known as Maestro Kang, portrayed by Kim Myung-Min, who is a world-renowned orchestra maestro and a person that everyone struggle to make intimate relationship with, primarily because of his perfectionist and aristocratic personality. The story got excited when the three decided to work together to put a great orchestra and ended up being untangle into a love triangle.
The story also depicts how Du Rumi struggle to continue her passion despite the fact that she will completely loss her hearing sense after a tumor develop in her auditory nerves which is the one responsible for transmitting auditory signals directly to the brain.

One song sang by one of Korean's best singer, In Soo-Ni was 거위의 꿈 literally translated as "A Goose Dream" the reason I like this song is because this song signifies hope for those people whose dreams are hard to achieve.

Below is the cover I made 3 years ago after I first watched the drama. The song was also sang in the drama "Dream High"  featuring Miss A Suzy, Kim Soo Hyun, T-ara Eunjung, IU, and 2PM members Taecyeon and Wooyoung.

Trivia about the song: originally sang by group Carnival in 1997 but became popular when In Soo-ni made her own rendition of the song in 2007.
