Time flies so fast. Yesterday it feels like the year just started and now it is coming to end again. An end that means new leaf of our lives will open again, new leaf that signifies new challenges, new adventure, new journey. Last October 31 and November 1, the 2015 batch of Korea Rural Tourism Supporters visited two awesome places in North Jeolla Province, the Damyang's Samjinae Village and Boseong's Bohyang Dawon.
Move slow at Samjinae Village a 'Slow City' in Damyang
The journey going to the place was long but it is worth the wait. We arrived past noon and everyone was of course so hungry. Going out of the bus we were warmly welcomed by the fresh breeze of Damyang not to mention the very calm nature in front of us. The owner of Samjinae Village prepared really tasty and delicious food. We all enjoyed the lunch and even felt how carefree it is to have a very simple lifestyle. Indeed Damyang deserve to the called as a 'Slow City' which means a city who prefer to be as traditional as possible despite a globalized era.
After almost an hour of enjoying the surrounding we were called to start the experience programs. We started the experience program with beeswax candle-making. I personally enjoyed this experience program for two reasons: it was my first time, and it was really fun to see how your thin candle little by little become fatter. While patiently waiting for our turns we chatted with each other and get to know each other more.
After
the beeswax candle-making experience program we transferred to another place nearby for the Korean Traditional candle-making experience program. This traditional candle is called yeot. Just because I have sweet tooth it is not a surprise that I enjoyed this program again (laughs). It is good to remember that although making it look so simple, the process follow specific pattern which everyone should observe if you wanted to have a chewy candle and not a rock-like candy. (Bonus note: don't forget to take good photos of the outside view for it is just too awesome scenery).
After
the yeot-making experience program we proceeded with a village short night tour. Since it was October 31 the ambiance feels like we are in Halloween Party nonetheless the night view of the place was too amazing.
We ended the day with a simple yet healthy dinner and photo-album making experience program.
It was a long day for everyone, so after all the experience programs in Damyang we directly proceeded to our accommodation.
All about Tea at Boseong Bohyang Dawon
The second day started with a morning stroll and special lecture by the owner of the Tea Farm. Our morning exercise was basically to enjoy the breath-taking scenery and to directly pick ourselves the prestigious gold tea flower that Bohyang Dawon is very proud of. After which we were served by all organic breakfast especially prepared by the wife of the owner of the place. It was too delicious that everyone keep saying that they wanted to stay hence live in Bohyang Dawon and so do I.
After our breakfast we have a tea etiquette lesson followed by short tea-making experience program. (Our group won first prize haha). Moreover, we were lucky that day because we were also able to visit the nearby beach. Which was then followed by a very appetizing home-made lunch.
