Dubbed as one of the most promising province near the country's capital, Seoul, Gangwon-do offers foreign and local visitors with so many beautiful and pristine tourist attractions that everyone will surely love. Come with me as I start a new travel journey in the paradise of Gangwon-do.
March 4, 2016, marked the beginning of year 2016 batch of Gangwon Boom Supporters journey, following last year's successful pilot Boom Supporters program. This year Gangwon Boom Supporters Induction ceremony was held from 11:00am to 12:00noon at KT&G Sangsangmadang Performance Room (KT&G 상상마당 퍼포먼스 룸) located at the province capital city, Chuncheon. Everyone was filled with excitement and high anticipation for this year Boom supporters program. Boom Supporter is basically a group composed of foreign undergraduate and graduate students who were chosen to promote the province's hidden wonders and attractions. These students will travel in every nooks of the province and upload their fun and interesting experiences through various Social Networking Sites (SNS) like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Weibo, Google blogs and the likes. This year Gangwon Boom Supporters are composed of 25 foreign students coming from different countries around the world (16 Chinese, 2 Filipinos, 2 Malaysians, 1 Japanese, 1 Cambodian, 1 Pakistani, 1 Nepalese, and 1 Mexican student).

Right after the mouth-watering luncheon, the group headed to Wonju to visit the city's very own "Museum SAN" (뮤지엄 산). The travel took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes by bus.
As a person who really likes and enjoys traveling, it is not surprising that I have been to many places in South Korea. One of the most memorable for me is my visit to Museum SAN (my second visit by the way).
"Museum SAN" is a place where visitors
can experience the balance and harmonious blending of nature, art, and
relaxing architectures. It is a place where you "touch the sky and
embrace the art." A place where unique meaning of communication begins.
The word "SAN" stands for Space Art Nature but it can also mean
mountain in Korean. Unlike the
typical type of museum that can be seen in the lowland, this museum unique characteristic is that is it peacefully situated on top of the mountain. A feature that gives it a distinct touristic value.
The museum welcomes
every visitor with a very refreshing and relaxing feeling. Having a slogan "Disconnect to Connect" visitors will be able to experience full relaxation and peace through the museum's arts and sophisticated architectures matched with the beauty of the surrounding nature.
The museum is basically divided into three main gardens namely the
flower garden, the water garden, and the stone garden. It also houses
the main building which showcases a very interesting paper galleries
where visitors can see how paper was actually made. Moreover, the work
of world renowned light and space artist, James Turrell is also one of
the most anticipated exhibition building in the museum itself. According
to Tadao Ando, master of minimalist architecture and the designer of
the museum, the rectangular, triangular, and round spaces that can be
found anywhere in the main building of the museum actually reflects or depicts the philosophy
of connecting the sky, the earth and the nature with each other.
